Transactional changes are changes that concern themselves with a single solution to a single problem. Generally the top of the organisation formulates these changes and relays them to the workforce as a fait accompli. The workforce will always, almost inevitably, resist these changes because the workforce is made up of human beings and human beings hate being told what to do. Breaking the Mould™ focuses on delivering “Transformational Change” - the process of changing attitudes and behaviours. Breaking the Mould™ removes the frustrations and obstacles to performance to create conditions that allow people to take ownership of their work. Ownership can be difficult to define. Looking at the difference in the way that we treat our own car and a hire car will give us some idea of the performance that is available when we create the right conditions to give us ownership at work. Ownership is the transformational change that defines the difference between the way we treat a hire car and our own car. We do keep our cars clean, we service them, we look after them, in short we own them. We can’t give people ownership but Breaking the Mould™ creates the conditions that allow them to take it.
