Breaking the MouldTM is a change management coaching method.  Change management consultancy is about senior managers in an organisation bringing in consultants, they determine changes which they think should be made, these are then foisted on the unwilling staff.  This is the usual story.

 Breaking the Mould (BtM) change management coaching is about empowering the people doing the job to say what the changes should be.  Of course, there needs to be a proven framework and a certain amount of organisation if the client is to move forward in a controllable efficient way, and that is what the BtM method brings.

 

The method works anywhere there is a team of people doing a repeated task:  whether it’s a business sales team trying to increase sales, a hospital’s admin team managing outpatient appointments, a team of riggers in an oil field (where, incidentally, BtM was developed), a team of professionals delivering a range of social services, and so on and on.

 

The twin principles of Breaking the Mould are: 

-  in order to be better, one has to change, which means stop doing the things one is doing now (ie break the mould) and do something else

- people know how to do their job, let them control how they do it and they’ll do it better.

 

Breaking the mould recognises that when targets are set for people, the effect is negative, whereas when people can set and exceed their own targets, the effect is hugely positive.  BtM is an excellent way of meeting and beating government and other imposed targets by giving ownership back to the people at the coalface.

 

So, Breaking the Mould works with managers to enable them and their teams to be more successful.
